"With any kind of festival featuring so many artists spread across a trio of stages, there are sure to be hits and misses. Fortunately, there were a number of highlights strewn throughout Sunday’s second half of the Bamboozle California to make the event worthwhile.
Strumming away on the side stage was Bobby Long, a British singer-songwriter with a rich, authentic baritone, who delivered his songs to the lone accompaniment of an acoustic guitar. He got a small but enthusiastic crowd to listen to winning songs such as “Penance Fire Blues.”Read more...
"Music Connection magazine has an "I believe" series. In this episode, Bobby Long discusses what the music industry means to him.
I believe is a video series about what people in the music industry think about the industry itself. From producers, to engineers, to musicians themselves, this series represents what everyone thinks about the troublesome jobs or hobbies they currently possess. Music Connection is a national trade publication for musicians and music industry folks."View on site...
"Bobby Long is a long way from home. Hailing from the town of Wigan near Manchester, England, the young, 20-something singer-songwriter is in the throes of his second U.S. tour, coming to Tucson for the first time tomorrow night.
“I’ve been to Phoenix, but I’ve never been to Tucson,” Long said over the phone between shows at the South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas. “I’m looking forward to it … it’s always nice to be playing in a new place that I’ve never been before.” Read more...
Spring fever is in full bloom: Bobby Long draws another large crowd at the Mercury Lounge
"The New York skyline was overcast with rain storms scattering the city streets. If you happened to be anywhere near 217 E. Houston Street though, you could feel electricity building in the air. A long line was forming in front of the Mercury Lounge and fans from all over the tri-state area and beyond were waiting for the doors to open. The crowd was a mixed bag of music fans of all ages- all eager to see folk musician Bobby Long. Some were there for the first time, while others have been faithfully attending his shows each time he hits town.
Every time Long takes the stage in New York people go crazy, which is well deserved because of his intricately crafted lyrics and smart melodies."Read more...
"Since the dawning of rock ‘n’ roll, the idea of being in the music world has held a powerful allure. Children often fantasise about pop stardom: dancing in bedrooms, singing into hairbrushes or playing in garage bands.
Doing things her way: British talent Katy Shotter has come out of the reality TV machine stronger and more in control of her careerAnd the long queues at X-Factor auditions show us that it is not only the stuff of childhood dreams: indeed, the idea of becoming the next Madonna or MJ is so potent many chase it without talent or passion for music itself.
Having a career in music though, is often far from a dream. Few of the world’s many talented songwriters and musicians attain stardom or even make a living from their music. And whilst it's always been a tough business to crack, the word backstage is that now it is tougher than ever, with record companies having less money to invest and being less willing to take risks."Read more...
"English singer-songwriter Bobby Long has been writing keenly crafted pop songs since he was a teenager, and soon began attending university and performing at open-mic nights alongside future Twilight star Robert Pattinson. That connection paid off, as Long was chosen to perform a song with Pattinson for the film series' first soundtrack. "Today’s FAN man was Bobby Long, a British crooner with a sparse acoustic style. Singing from his self-released, lo-fi Dirty Pond Songs EP, Long charmed both the concert-goers and the listeners from the radio. If his music and his stage presence are any indication, this is one guy with his guitar will be building his fan base for quite a while.
Long was musically inclined from the start. He learned to play the cello and guitar, and started writing songs at the age of 18. He fronted a grunge band in college, wrote his senior thesis on the impact of American folk music, and started making the open-mic circuit in London full-time."Read more...

"Brit artist Bobby Long expands his SXSW appearances, adds a few dates to his touring schedule and hooks up with Matt Pond PA in May.
Things appear to be going Long’s way. In addition to finding U.S. audiences through his Dirty Pond Songs CD, which he recorded in his bedroom, Long built a sizeable fan base after a song he co-wrote with Marcus Foster – “Let Me Sign” – ended up on the “Twilight” movie soundtrack where it was sung by his good friend and star vampire Robert Pattinson. Long has also made use of YouTube and MySpace, proving that artists can do it for themselves."Read more...
"Girls hearts when aflutter when Robert Pattinson's Edward performed 'Let Me Sign' in a scene with Kristen Stewart's Bella in 2008's 'Twilight.' But just as swoon-worthy is 24-year-old Bobby Long, Pattinson's London chum, who wrote the song for the actor to sing in the film. The tracks on his rootsy, bare-bones EP, 'Dirty Pond Songs,' draw upon Stateside legends like Bob Dylan and Gram Parsons, which just might make Long one of the few things that pop-obsessed teens and 40-year-old music nerds can actually agree on. One thing's for sure: this lad's no vampire, but he is bloody talented."Read more...
"He has yet to score his own Wikipedia page, but Brit singer/songwriter Bobby Long has already gathered an increasingly growing fan base and is set to make his SXSW debut.
Long’s emergence as an up-and-coming artist is the stuff Hollywood loves to make movies about. He recorded his debut effort – a 10-song EP titled Dirty Pond Songs – in his bedroom. So far, the disc has sold 10,000 copies as he continues to amaze audiences with a bare-bones sound reminiscent of early Bob Dylan."Read more...
"The folk and blues musical storm - better known as Bobby Long - is gearing up to cross the pond and he’s heading our way New York! This time around he’s bringing with him an amazing opportunity for fans to have a personal meet and greet, take photos with him, and be on his guest list for the show. Judging from all the buzz he’s been getting on Twitter from enthusiastic fans, this shouldn’t be a hard sale to all of you ladies (and gents) out there. Did I mention it’s for a good cause?"Read more...
"He’s a singer, songwriter, pin up boy, folk musician and the biggest scruff I’ve ever laid eyes on. He’s Bobby Long. Cool as a cucumber he slopes into our office, pulls off his (rather large) boots at the door, makes his way to the sofa and stretches out his long legs, taking off his hat and running his hands through a mop of hair. He’s handsome and very hairy, wearing jeans and a check shirt; he’s super friendly and very chilled out, looking like he’s really enjoying a sit down for five minutes." Scroll to page 10. "Our featured Tuned In artist this week is Bobby Long. This 24 year old British singer songwriter has made a huge splash on the international music scene. If you are a fan of the immensely popular Twilight film, you may very well already know Bobby's music from the film soundtrack. If not, you will probably want to read his connection to one the stars of the film.
We caught up with him at The North Star Bar during a show packed with enthusiastic fans. The following is his biography Singer-songwriter Bobby Long still doesn't quite know what hit him. One minute he's making the rounds of open mic nights in London testing out his original material in front of generally ambivalent audiences, and the next he's selling out club dates in far-off America. Pretty heady stuff for a 24-year-old who only began writing and performing a few years ago and whose most recent goal was to graduate from college.
While his meteoric rise to instant recognition can be attributed to the inclusion of a song he co-wrote in the soundtrack of the blockbuster film Twilight, Bobby Long's music has a way of rising above the film frenzy and speaking volumes to a receptive flock. "There's something about his humble, apologetic humor that endears him to audiences, and something about the honesty and vulnerability of his music that captivates and moves them as well," wrote Liz McClendon in Blast Magazine of one of those early club appearances in New York City. "The contrast in the two makes for an absolutely great performance." Read more... By:6abc.com WPVI-TV | February 21, 2010
