The female presence at the Doug Fir actually exceeded that of the male presence the night Bobby Long headlined. You’d think that a man with a fan base like his would be a bit more cocky, but his entire presence lacked any hint of that. He subtly entered the stage, and began playing without any formal notice. The two-piece, him and the mandolin player, projected such a raw and heartfelt sound.
Facial expressions were difficult to miss. He sung with his eyes closed and his face clenched. This was more than just performing for an audience of strangers. His voice is pretty, but deep enough to win and break hearts. He romanticized dark subjects through his lyrics.
